John Theodore Heins (English, 1697-1756) Portrait of a Gentleman, 1751 oil on canvas signed and dated (lower left) 29 3/4 x 25 inches. This lot is located in Chicago. Condition Report Framed dimensions 37 1/4 x 32 inches. In overall decent, stable condition. Canvas is relined. Some surface dirt and dust consistent with age and hanging. Signature reads "Heins Fecit 1751". Examination under UV light shows area of overpainting surrounding the top of figure's head and on his coat lapel with the buttonholes.
