YAMAGUCHI SOKEN (1759 - 1818) Figures in a boat Edo period, 18th/19th century A Japanese hanging scroll painting, kakejiku , ink on paper, depicting a scholar and his apprentice quietly gliding up the stream towards a hut in a distance beneath snow-clad trees, signed Soken, sealed Soken, together with a hinoki wood box. Image 94cm x 41cm; total 185cm x 53.5cm (3) Provenance: the Claudio Perino Collection, Turin, acquired mostly in Japan in early 2000s.
