KISHI GANKU (1749 — 1839) Dragon Among Clouds Edo period, 18th/19th century A Japanese hanging scroll painting, kakejiku , ink on silk, with a head of an old dragon emerging from dark stormy clouds, signed Ganku , sealed Ganku/Fuzen . Image 95.5cm x 35.4cm; total 176cm x 46.5cm Provenance: the Claudio Perino Collection, Turin, acquired mostly in Japan in early 2000s. Exhibited: MAO Museo d'Arte Orientale, Turin, and MUSEC Museo delle Culture, Lugano, 2020 - 2022. Literature: featured in the exhibition catalogue Kakemono, Five centiuries of Japanese painting.
