KITAKAWA UTAMARO (1753 — 1806) Edo period, circa 1800 A woodblock print on Japanese paper, washi , O-ban tate-e format, depicting a pair of young lovers, signed Utamaro hitsu, published by Yamaguchi-ya Tōbeichibei, with a censorship kiwame seal. 53cm x 35cm Provenance: the Claudio Perino Collection, Turin, acquired mostly in Japan in early 2000s. Exhibited: MAO Museo d'Arte Orientale, Turin. This lot has been imported from outside the UK for sale and placed under the Temporary Admission (TA) regime.
