A CHINESE LACQUER 'LION DOG' DISH
Probably Qianlong period, 18th century
Carved with a mythical leonine creature near a waterfall flowing form a jugged rock among
ruyi
clouds, all within a key fret border, a band of stylised flowerheads and foliage around the
cavetto
, the reverse with further lotus blossoms, vegetation and keyfret surrounding the base.

Provenance: the Claudio Perino Collection, Turin, acquired mostly in Japan in early 2000s.
